Chemical control problems due to load changes of PWR type reactors

Description
Nuclear power plants can be operated at different loads according to the current power demands. While the plant load is changed by the control rod movements, there are no significant changes in the chemical composition of the primary coolant apart from variations of the corrosion product content. If load changes are accompanied with changes in boric acid concentration, countermeasures have to be taken to compensate undesirable changes in the chemical composition. Chemical operations can not be neglected in the secondary coolant circuit to counterbalance changes in water-steam flow rates due to variations of the load. (V.N.)
