Interaction between complex nuclei

Description
We calculate the interaction potential between two 16O nuclei by using the Skyrme density dependent force within an approach based on energy functionals. The ground state of the system 16O + 16O is described by a Slater determinant built from a non-orthogonal basis formed by harmonic oscillator wave functions centred at two different points separated by a distance R. We find that the exchange effects due to antisymmetrization are important at any R.
