Effects of x-rays on Acetabularia mediterranea, 2

  • 1. C.E.N.-S.C.K., Mol (Belgium). Dept. of Radiobiology

Description

The synthesis of DNA, RNA, and proteins in chloroplasts of Acetabularia cells irradiated with increasing doses of x-rays (25, 50, 100 kR) is severely inhibited at doses higher than 50 kR. Radiation-induced stimulatory effects on the synthesis of RNA, as well as on the uptake of DNA and RNA precursors were observed. (author)
