Description
In Czechoslovakia three sites were selected in the past for the disposal of institutional radioactive wastes. No geological survey was carried out before the sites were chosen. Activity levels conformed to the levels acceptable at the time. Now, however, efforts are being made to make the sites conform to the IAEA recommendations. One of the sites, in a disused drift mine, Richard II, near the city of Litomerice is discussed and several alternative courses of action to protect the environment are proposed. (UK)
