Fuel element storage pond for nuclear installations
Description
The water level in the concrete storage pond for the rodshaped fuel elements of a PWR (1300 MWe) is lowered below the edge of the pond during operation. To reduce irradiation, in the pond area, a strip along the pond walls is covered with shielding (50mm of steel or lead) in the shape of a shielding plate projecting horizontally above the water. It has a continuation vertical to the water surface at its free edge. A horizontal pipe with flat beam nozzles is fixed at the continuation below this shielding. Using these nozzles, the edge of the basin can be cleared of contaminated particles using a cleaning liquid (e.g. water). (DG)

Der Wasserspiegel im Beton-Lagerbecken fuer stabfoermige BE eines DWR (1300 MWe) ist im Betrieb unter den Beckenrand abgesenkt. Zur Verminderung der Strahlenbelastung im Beckenbereich wird ein Streifen entlang der Beckenwandung mit einer Abschirmung (50mm Stahl oder Pb) in Form einer ueber den Wasserspiegel horizontal hinausragenden Abschirmplatte abgedeckt. Sie weist an ihrem freien Rand einen vertikal gegen den Wasserspiegel gerichteten Fortsatz auf. Unter dieser Abschirmung ist am Fortsatz ein horizontal verlaufendes Rohr mit Flachstrahlduesen befestigt. Durch diese Duesen kann der Beckenrand mittels einer Reinigungsfluessigkeit (z.B. Wasser) von kontaminierenden Partikeln gesaeubert werden. (DG)Files
