Scattering of pions by polarized and unpolarized 3He in the vicinity of the Δ33 resonance

Description

The amplitude of pion interaction with light nuclei 3H and 3He, including multiple pion scattering, is obtained in the fixed-center approximation. Only the contribution of the P33 state is included for πN interaction, and NN interaction is neglected. The coordinate wave function of nuclei is taken as the sum of Gaussians. The differential cross sections and asymmetries for the elastic process π-3H (π+3He) at lab energy Tπ = 180 MeV are calculated. The results are compared with experimental data. 6 refs., 8 figs
