Description

We consider, in the context of the glueball theory of the theta(1700), the recent measurements by the Mark III Collaboration at the SLAC e+e- storage ring SPEAR, of the theta helicity-amplitude ratios x-bar and y-bar, x-bar = A1/A0, y-bar = A2/A0, for the decay sequence psi/J→thetaγ, theta→K-K+, where A/sub j/ is the Jacob-Wick amplitude for theta helicity j, j = 0,1,2. We find that the values of x-bar and y-bar are not obviously inconsistent with the interpretation of the theta(1700) as a bound state of two transverse-electric constituent gluons
