Safety status of research nuclear reactors in Moscow

Description

The results of the mission of the national and IAEA expert groups on the assessment of safety, reliability and efficient utilization of nuclear reactors in Moscow are reviewed. It is shown that during their operation the radiation levels for the proximate population did not exceed the background values, and those for the personnel - maximum permissible ones. It is proposed to hold up the operation of three such reactors in order to check their safety systems, replace out-of-date equipment and finish safety documentation; it was proposed to remove MR reactor beyond the boundaries of Moscow taking into account it considerable capacity
