Description
Objective: To explore the significance of changes of serum TNF-α, IL-6, IL-8, IL-10 levels after treatment in patients with condyloma acuminatum. Methods: Serum levels of TNF-α, IL-8, IL-10 (with RIA), IL-6 level (with ELISA) were measured both before and after treatment in 40 patients with condyloma acuminatum and 35 controls. Results: Before treatment, the serum TNF-α and IL-10 levels in the patients were significantly higher, but IL-6 and IL-8 levels were significantly lower than those in controls (P<0.01). After treatment, the levels of cytokines were much corrected, but still remained significantly different from those in controls (P<0.05). Conclusion: The levels of serum TNF-α, IL-6, IL-8 and IL-10 changed significantly in patients with condyloma acuminatum especially in those advanced cases. (authors)
