Detection limit calculation according ISO 11929 for in vitro radio bioassay 210Pb determinations by LSC

  • 1. DIDOS/IRD/CNEN-RJ, Rio De Janeiro, RJ (Brazil)

Description

In 2010, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) abandoned the concept of minimum detectable amount (MDA) used in ISO 12790-1:2001 in favor of detection limit (DL) presented in ISO 11929:2010. In the same way, ISO 28218: 'Performance criteria for Radiobioassay' uses the concept of detection limit introduced by ISO 11929:2010 in its content. In 2013, the In Vitro Bioassay Laboratory (LBIOVT) from the Dosimetry Division (DIDOS) of the Institute of Radioprotection and Dosimetry (IRD), RJ, Brazil developed a new approach for the determination of 210Pb by liquid scintillation counter (LSC). In that paper, LBIOVT/DIDOS/IRD calculated DL on the methodology developed in according to ISO 28218:2010 and compared it with the MDA value
