Analysis and evaluation guideline for radioactivity in drinking water
Description
The Bundesamt fuer Strahlenschutz has published in 2009 the results of the analysis on radiation exposure by natural radionuclides in drinking water. This extensive and systematic study of drinking water in Germany was aimed to produce a sound basis for the formulation of precise requirements for drinking water surveillance. The study has confirmed that the average radiation exposure due to natural radionuclides is rather low. On the other hand the concentration fluctuations are very high; in particular cases measures for reduction can be necessary in the view of public health care.
