Description
Batch investigations on the sorption of Cs, Co, Cd and Sr from nitric waste solutions using synthesized nickel acid waste solutions using synthesized nickel hexacyanoferrate(II) (NiFC) were carried out. The results of effect of shaking time, acid concentration, cation concentration, sorbent mass of NiFC on the uptake of each of the investigated ions indicated higher uptake of Cs from nitric acid medium with the sequence Cs>Co>Cd>Sr. The values of uptake indicated a selectivity of the investigated system for Cs recovery from nitric acid solutions containing Co, Cd and Sr. IR, surface area and x-ray structure investigations indicated that the interaction between the investigated ions NiFC is mainly chemical. The results were elaborated to asses the optimum conditions for the removal of the investigated ions from nitric acid medium, when present in nuclear waste solutions
