Nuclear accident phases: exposure pathways, dose prediction, protective actions and decision making regarding their implementation on the basis of Protective Action Guides
- 1. Natioanl Electric Company. NPP 'Kozloduy' Branch, Kozlodiu (Bulgaria)
Description
The vital issue of the radiation safety in a nuclear accident is how to minimise the possible consequences, the public health impact and to protect the workers performing emergency services. The structural and methodological aspects in the analyses of the different phases of a nuclear accident leading to abnormal release of radioactive material into the environment are written down. The possible exposure pathways and the dose projection on the base of dose conversion factors and derived response levels are analyzed. The possible protective actions and response activities to minimize the health impact of the public and the emergency workers are given. The process of decision making for implementation of protective actions on the base of protective action guides is described
