Description
The efficiency of the velocity filter SHIP is calculated for unslowed reaction products from heavy ion fusion reactions. The ionic charge distribution of the reaction products due to stripping of the outer electrons, the angular and velocity distributions due to neutron, proton, and/or α-particle emission of the excited nucleus as well as by scattering and energy loss in the target are considered. For the ion optical calculations phase-space transformation as well as the Monte Carlo method are used. The results of the calculations are compared with experimental results. (orig.)
