New information on kinetics in pulse radiolysis from measurements of Cerenka light autoabsorption
Description
Information about kinetics is described which may be gained from specific pulse radiolysis studies consisting in measurement of intermediate concentrations during a micro-second pulse of 10-13 MeV electrons at the dose of up to 90 krads per pulse. In the contrary to conventional pulse radiolysis which deals with decays governed most often by first or second order kinetics, in the radiolytic process of formation, zero-order or steady state kinetics dominates. First type has been illustrated by the linear formation of O3- in the system 1 M NaOH, 10-3 M O2, the second one by the formation of esub(aq)sup(-) in the alkaline, oxygen free solution. (author)
