X-ray efficiency of phosphor screens in the 20--60 kV range

  • 1. Physics Department, University of Ioannina, P.O. Box 1186, 451 10 Ioannina, Greece

Description

The absolute efficiency of phosphor screens under x-ray excitation is studied for tube voltages ranging from 20 to 60 kV. The screens were prepared of ZnS:Cu, ZnCdS:Ag, Y2O2S:Tb, Gd2O2S:Tb, and CaWO4, which are the phosphors most commonly used in the x-ray applications. This efficiency appears to be about 100 times lower than the efficiency of the same screens under fluoroscopy conditions
