Description
The essential aspects of the design and engineering of fuel assemblies for LWR reactors are outlined, and the major criteria to be met by the materials used are given. The fuel rods must be mechanically designed to withstand many stresses which are shortly dealt with here. (RB)

Aufbau und Konstruktion einer Brennelementanordnung fuer Leichtwasserreaktoren werden in Grundzuegen beschrieben und die hauptsaechlichen Kriterien, denen die verwendeten Materialien entsprechen muessen, dargelegt. Die mechanische Auslegung der Brennelementstaebe muss vielerlei Beanspruchungen waehrend des Reaktorbetriebs widerstehen, die hier kurz erlaeutert werden. (RB)
