Critics and improvements of semi-empirical formulas expressing nuclide masses
Description
In this engineering thesis, the author first recall some generalities about nuclear models and semi-empirical formulas, and then presents the issue of semi-empirical formulas based on the liquid drop model. He reports the establishment of a first semi-empirical formula (calculation of coefficients of volume energy, surface energy and Coulomb energy, calculation of the asymmetry energy coefficient, parabola of nuclei possessing a magic number, discussion of results obtained with this formula). He presents the Fermi gas model: Fermi gas theory, application to a nucleus made of a number of nuclei, lessons learned from this model. Then, he reports the establishment of a second semi-empirical formula, and the calculation of the binding energy of any atom.
