Ion chromatographic determination of SO2 and SO3 in flue gases in pilot plant of removal of SO2 and NOx by electron beam treatment

Description
A method for the simultaneous determination of SO2 and SO3 in combustion flue gases from a coal-fired electric plant was elaborated. SO2 and SO3 were collected by absorbing the gases in alkaline aqueous solutions and determined by ion chromatography as sulfite and sulfate. The collection efficiency was practically 100%. Precision and accuracy of the method have been discussed. The method was used to control the content of SO2 and SO3 in flue gases from the pilot plant for removal of SO2 and NOx by electron beam treatment at the heat and power generating plant (HPGP) Kaweczyn.
