Muon spin rotation (μSR) in α-Fe2O3

Description
The first observation of μSR signals in an antiferromagnet is reported. Measurements on powder and single crystal α-Fe2O3 show a sharp change of the local field from 15.7 kG below to 7.3 kG above the Morin transition. No signal is observed for T > 500 K due to the onset of diffusion. The data allows a unique determination of the muon stopping site. (Auth.)
