Description

In order to increase operating margins and to improve fuel management, EDF started feasibility studies concerning a Power Distribution Monitoring System (PDMS), for on line monitoring and prediction of PWR-900 MWe cores. This paper discusses the functional requirements and the general PDMS architecture. The heart of te PDMS consists of a nodal diffusion code and on line calibration methods that produce the 3D power distribution. Preliminary results are presented that permit a first assessment of PDMS performances, in terms of running time and accuracy to be associated to local power values
