Description
The Atomic Energy Research Laboratory, Gotoh Educational Corporation Tokyo City University was established in 1960 at Ozenji, Asao-ku, Kawasaki City. Since the TRIGA-2 research reactor (Musashi Institute of Technology reactor) achieved its initial criticality in 1963, many research results have been obtained on the treatment of brain tumors and skin cancer, as well as the analysis of substances and trace elements in the environment through activation analysis. The nuclear reactor facilities were decided to be decommissioned in May 2003 and are being decommissioned. However, the existing facilities are being utilized for education, and research related to the decommissioning of research reactor facilities is also being conducted. On the other hand, radiation handling facilities have been improved to further promote education and research activities. In FY2008, this Research Laboratory and the Departments related to nuclear energy of the Faculty of Engineering of this University cooperated to establish the 'Department of Nuclear Safety Engineering' to train nuclear specialists and technicians. As a place of education, the Atomic Energy Research Laboratory not only provides education using radiation handling facilities, but also develops and trains a virtual feeling type reactor operation simulator that utilizes the control panel of the Musashi Institute of Technology and operation record data. On the other hand, in the use of nuclear reactors and radioisotopes as described above, radiation control consisting of individual and facility management for radiation protection has been continuously implemented since the establishment of this Laboratory. Here, this paper reports the results of radiation control that was carried out regularly during April 2019 and March 2000. (A.O.)
