Superconducting and mechanical properties of (Bi,Pb)-2223/Ag tapes in the wire-in-tube geometry

Description

(Bi,Pb)-2223/Ag tapes in the WIT geometry with varying size of Ag layer inside the tape core have been prepared by the powder-in-tube technique. JCs of the WIT tapes have shown a remarkable enhancement over the conventional monofilament geometry. Also the tape characteristics such as E-J, JC-B, JC(B)-θ, and strain tolerance on applied bend strains of the WIT tapes are found to be better compared to the PIT geometry. Increased superconductor-silver interface area in the WIT tapes is found to play a key role in improving the structural quality of the samples by promoting the overall texture and intergrain connectivity
