The delay time during depressurization of saturated water
Description
An important phase in the thermohydraulic safety design of light water nuclear reactors involves the determination of the water conditioning in the various parts of the primary cooling system during depressurization. In the course of system depressurization; subcooled liquid becomes superheated which eventually flash evaporates. There is a finite time between the saturation state of the liquid and the first appearance of detectable bubbles. This time termed throughout as the delay time. This study produces new experimental results for the delay time which is encountered during depressurization of saturated and demineralized water
