Use of Phosphate Glasses for Dosimetry of Mixed Radiation Fields in Neutron Radiobiology

Description

In many cases phosphate glasses ate well suited to determine the γ dose in various organs of the body for radiobiological purposes. The gamma- or X-ray-dose value is measured after proper calibration by measurement of the fluorescent light. It is also possible to measure the neutron-induced radioactivity of the glasses after neutron irradiation, thus making the glass dosimeters useful tools for simultaneous determination of gamma and neutron doses. The fields of use and the limits of this method, for different irradiation conditions, are described in this paper. (author)
