Energy loss and scintillation response in the case of axial channeling of α-particles transmitted through anthracene crystals

Description

The energy loss and the scintillation response of channeled α-particles transmitted parallel to the c-axis of anthracene were investigated. The measured half-angle was compared with the critical angle, which was determined by use of the lattice continuum potential. The effective electron density for single-particle excitations was determined with particle flux calculations. The energy loss was explained with plasma and single-particle excitations. Dechanneling was explained with nuclear multiple scattering. The track-effekt theory was used to explain the random and channeling scintillation response. Values for the radii of the track-effect theory are given. (orig.)

Abstract (German)

(orig.)
