Lower limits on m/sub upsilon/ from the distribution of dark matter in galaxies

  • 1. Inst. of Astronomy, Univ. of Aarhus, DK-8000 Aarhus C

Description

If one flavour of neutrino and antineutrino of mass m/sub upsilon/ is responsible for the non-luminous matter in the outer parts of galaxies, one can obtain firm lower limits on the value of m/sub upsilon/ from the observed distribution of dark matter. Note that the method described here does not depend on the actual coarse-grained phase-space distribution of neutrinos in galaxies (except for assuming isotropy). Another approach to the problem with the same advantage is presented
