Role of the neuroradiology in planning and imaging guiding of neurosurgical interventions

  • 1. Medical University, Sofia (Bulgaria)

Description

The digital imaging techniques such as CT and NMR as well as the brain angiography enabled the decoding of the spatial information presenting in the images used for planning and guiding of neurosurgical procedures. In this way practically every target is precisely accessible along the redefines trajectories or accesses. The authors analyze their experience in the preoperative virtual endoscopy (7 cases) and 42 cases of image assisted guidance of neurosurgical interventions. The conclusion is made that the virtual NMR endoscopy is especially useful in planning of intraventricular endoscopy access, while CT and NMR guided frameless stereotaxy give intracavitary navigation information during the surgery in terms of orientation, localization in the intracavitary space and in the lesion
