Synthesis of ammonia from molecular nitrogen enriched by nitrogen-15

Description

The experimental plant for working off the procedure of quantitative transfer of molecular nitrogen enriched by the 15N isotope in ammonia by the reaction 3H2 + N2 = 2NH3 is demonstrated. Synthesis of ammonia in the reactor starts at the initial gauge pressure ∼ 12 MPa. Ruthenium catalyst was previously exhaust by hydrogen. Molecular nitrogen was used with the content of 15N ∼ 50 % at. In the studied process the ammonia yield was as much as ∼ 80 %

Abstract (Russian)

Представлена экспериментальная установка для отработки методики количественного перевода обогащенного изотопом 15N молекулярного азота в аммиак по реакции 3H2 + N2 = 2NH3. Синтез аммиака в реакторе начинается при исходном избыточном давлении ∼ 12МПа. Рутениевый катализатор предварительно продувался током водорода. Использовался молекулярный азот с содержанием 15N ∼ 50 % ат. В исследованном процессе выход аммиака достигал ∼ 80 %
