The statistics of quasar pairs
Description
The work of Burbidge, Narlikar and Hewitt (BNH) [Nature, 317, 413-415 (1985)] supported the suggestion that there may be a significant excess of close pairs of quasars [QSO's] with different redshifts. The authors examine the data concerned, and conclude that the BNH sample of QSO pairs is biased by selection effects. (UK)
