Giant resonances in deformed nuclei
Description
We have been investigating isoscalar giant resonances in deformed nuclei for several years and our theoretical results are briefly summarized here together with some of the recent findings. Effective interactions in deformed nuclei are derived by applying the self-consistency condition rigorously in a deformed harmonic oscillator model and they are shown to be multipole-multipole interactions expressed in doubly stretched coordinates. The interactions thus derived are used in RPA calculations for giant quadrupole, monopole and octupole resonances in deformed nuclei. Significant features which favor the present model over a conventional multipole-multipole interaction model are discussed. (author)
