Analysis of corrective actions applied to Nuclear power plant operations
Description
In May 1990 the Nuclear Operations Analysis Center at Oak Ridge National Laboratory completed an analysis of corrective action data from events at nuclear power plants during 1989. This study was conducted for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's Office for Analysis and Evaluation of Operational Data. The results of the study indicated that procedure modification, equipment , replacement/adjustment and training were the three predominant types of corrective actions taken by the industry in 1989. Each of these three corrective action types was studied to characterize the actions taken by nuclear power-plant licensees to prevent recurrence of similar events. The study also illustrated that diagnostic information could be obtained by analyzing corrective action data provided in Licensee Event Reports from across the industry. This approach could result in improved plant performance through the reduction of undesired operational events
