Electric conductivity of graphite in wide region of condensed state
Description
The graphite heating has been investigated by high density current pulse of ≅ 5 μs duration. At the first heating stage, proper T < or approx. 3000 K temperature, the results of pulse measurements for electric resistance are close to the corresponding results of stationary measurements available in literature. At the later stage of pulse heating unstudied by stationary methods a sharp growth of graphite electric resistance has been found as well as simultaneous drop of its density which is analogous to electric explosion of metals. Such graphite explosion starts with its density ≅ 1.3 g/cm3 which constitutes ∼ 0.6 of initial density (as for metals). The introduced energy with which a sharp growth of electric resistance and fast graphite expansion start, increases considerably with external pressure growth
