Proportional counter for air observation
Description
About of thousand proportional counters of 500 cm X 10 cm X 10 cm have been constructed and are now in operation for the observation of cosmic ray particles in extensive air showers at Akeno EAS Array. The method of mass production, the dynamic characteristics and the estimated deterioration life time of the proportional counter are described and discussed. (orig.)
