PLC-based displacement measuring device for FBTR

Description
The displacement measuring device (DMD) controller is designed to automate the measurement of displacements in X, Y and Z-axes at different locations of the reactor vessel. In FBTR, displacements are measured at two locations using the existing DMD assembly. Displacements of up to 50 mm in X and Y-axes, and 100 mm in Z-axis can be measured. At Electronics Division, IGCAR, we have developed a PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) based system for controlling the measurement. This paper describes the principle of displacement measurement in FBTR reactor vessel and explains the features of the new PLC-based DMD controller. (author)
