Description

The authors have studied the structure of D2 molecules physisorbed in an oriented pyrolytic C24Rb sample at 80 K by elastic neutron scattering. The low temperature diffraction pattern of pristine C24Rb changed dramatically upon sorption of D2 molecules, and is consistent with the assumption of deuterium molecules decorating lattice gas-like interstitial sites within the alkali intercalant layer. These are presumably triangular sites associated with the alkali low temperature close-packed superstructure. (Auth.)
