Description

Analysis of charge partitions for a total measured charge of 20 detected at forward angles by the AMPHORA multidetector in the reaction 40Ca+natCu at 35 MeV/nucleon provides strong evidence for an initial equilibrium state. The probability of observing a partition is well described in terms of a multinomial formula whose parameters are strongly correlated with the mass excesses of individual members. A similar result is obtained for partitions of charge 8 from the reaction 16O+9Be at 32.5 MeV/nucleon. (author) 9 refs., 4 figs
