Particle-vibrational doorway states
Description
The escape width, damping width and the average interaction potential between a nucleon in a doorway state and a nucleon in more complicated states of the nucleus are discussed as a function of the average total level width and the average level spacing. It is found that the probability with which a doorway state is present in a compound state is equal to (nsub(d)/n)2 and that resembles closely a simple harmonic-oscillator potential. The magnitude of the potential is approximately 8 keV. (author)
