Electron beam generation system for high beam power

Description

In electron guns of very high beam powers, such as those used for electron beam welding machines, special heat removal systems must be provided in order to avoid hot spots inside the evacuated vessel. The solution proposed is characterized by cooling vanes connected to the feed lines for the heating current, which vanes are thermally connected with the grounded outside surface of the evacuated housing by means of an insulating layer. Advancements and preferred embodiments of the invention are described in detail. (ORU)

Abstract (German)

Bei Elektronenkanonen sehr hoher Strahlleistung, wie sie fuer Elektronenstrahlschweissmaschinen benoetigt werden, muessen spezielle Waermeabfuhrmoeglichkeiten vorgesehen werden, um oertliche Ueberhitzungen im Innern des evakuierten Gefaesses zu vermeiden. Kennzeichnendes Merkmal der vorgeschlagenen Loesung sind an die Zuleitungen fuer den Heizstrom angeschlossene Kuehlfahnen, die ueber eine Schicht eines Isolators thermisch mit dem geerdeten Aeusseren des evakuierten Gehaeuses verbunden sind. Weiterbildungen und vorteilhafte Ausgestaltungen der Erfindung werden im Detail beschrieben. (ORU)
