Improvement of reliability of main pumps for nuclear power plants
Description
Operational reliability is required for residual heat removal pumps, reactor feed pumps and condensate pumps to maintain safety and to improve the availability of nuclear power plants. To meet these high reliability requirements, Hitachi pumps were designed using a large-scale computer for improved accuracy in stress and deformation analyses. Furthermore, the operational reliability of the pumps was verified through both component tests and unit tests which were conducted by simulating a variety of actual plant situations. This paper describes the main points marked for improvement in mechanical and operational reliability of these pumps. (author)
