Description

New rules for seismic piping design in Section III have been developed and are under consideration at the Main Committee of the Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code for inclusion in the Code. The new requirements reduce the conservatism in the current rules and will result in new margins that are more compatible to the levels on other loads such as weight and pressure. This paper reports on the proposed new rules giving an overview of the process that took place in the development of these rules
