Mathematical modelling and identification of thermal pollution in streams: a review paper

  • 1. Case Western Reserve Univ., Cleveland

Description

The determination of both model topology and parameters was analyzed under different assumptions. Generalized strategies for ranking the effectiveness of alternative parameter identification approaches were presented. The first assumes an input-output philosophy to identify parameters, while the second attempts to correlate and directly measure more basic variables or parameters related to the physical systems. Alternative strategies were presented where a trade-off exists between simplicity versus data need and computational sophistication. Computer structuring of data generation and identification-ranking schemes which can complement more traditional model and parameter estimation procedures was described
