Production of charm in π-p interactions in the parton model

Description
Production of charmed particles in π-p collisions is considered, with allowance for the interaction (recombination) of charmed quarks with the valence quarks and valence-sea diquarks from the π- meson. Calculations are made of the differential and total cross sections for production of charmed hadrons, in good agreement with the results of experiment. It is shown that the predictions of the model of ''intrinsic'' charm are incompatible with the experimental data on π-p collisions at E/sub lab/ = 360 GeV
