Description
Inclusive charged particle spectra were measured from nuclear reactions induced by 156 MeV /sup 6/Li, in particular, on /sup 40/Ca and /sup 208/Pb. At forward angles the spectra exhibit broad break-up distributions centered around the energy corresponding to the beam velocity. The double differential cross sections were analyzed in the framework of the DWBA approach which is based on a spectator mechanism of the projectile break-up and takes into account elastic and inelastic reactions of the break-up fragments. The high energy tails of the background due to preequilibrium emission of complex charged particles were estimated on the basis of the coalescence model. Experimental particle-particle coincidence studies, performed in the particular case of /sup 6/Li colliding with /sup 6/Li, are able to select out the quasifree reaction channels more distinctly
