Complex analysis of polymetallic ores by means of gamma-activation and some non nuclear methods

Description
It has been demonstrated that gamma-activation analysis (GAA) is effective method both for determination of bulk elements' content and their spatial distribution in copper-nickel containing ores. A method of 3D-flux monitoring for quantitative GAA has been suggested. GAA and digital autoradiography rationally complements each other as well as non nuclear methods (ICP-MS, XRF and SEM). Application of digital gamma-activation autoradiography for screening tests of thin sections of geological samples of large size (dozens cm2) for effective detection of Pt/Pd containing micro inclusions is very promising. Further detailed analysis of the selected zones by SEM is a rational solution. An irradiation installation for uniform irradiation of stacked up thin sections of large size by Bremsstrahlung has been designed. (authors)
