Description
In order to appreciate the in service stresses in the roll transition zones of the Steam Generator tubes, we have tried to determine separately the residual stresses, the manufacturing stresses and the stresses due to the operating conditions. The residual stresses lend themselves to investigation by means of experiment such as corrosion tests and X-rays; the others are more easily assessed by calculations using the finite element method. However numerical models are being developed which allow to simulate the operations of expansion of the tube, and to confirm the experimental results
