Description
Used-up, large, contaminated, scrap components from the secondary portion of a BWR installations can be sensibly reused without damage. The procedure for such a process can be optimised through careful calculation of a disposal strategy with a view to cost and time spent. By utilising the natural decay of the short-life nuclides and by careful selection of the methods of decontamination, a reduction of the decontamination work and the resulting radioactive waste is achieved.
