Foundation investigation for nuclear power stations

Siting of a nuclear power plant encompasses the environmental and ecological aspects including meteorology, hydrology, geology, seismology, and foundations. On April 28, 1972, the Atomic Energy Commission adopted a policy to encourage, support, and give priority consideration to activities leading to greater standardization of nuclear power plants in terms of design, fabrication, construction, testing, and operation. Twenty-six items are listed for consideration for a nuclear plant. (U.S.)
