Effect of Cs-137 physical-chemical form on inhalation doses in the Chernobyl' NPP zone

  • 2. Institut Biofiziki, Moscow (Russian Federation)

Description

Two main forms of Cs-137 presence in aerosols with equal radioactivities which are the condensation and fuel one, are considered. The data on contribution of Cs-137 fuel component into total cesium activity on aerosols are discussed. The results of calculating half-century equivalent dose in the case of single inhalation intake of Cs-137 and radionuclide mixture in sixth year after the accident are given. It is noted that aerosols of the fuel type form higher inhalation doses per unit intake. It should be taken into account when determining permissible and control levels limiting doses of personnel internal irradiation in the Chernobyl' NPP zone. 6 refs.; 4 tabs
