Two-photon spectroscopy of f-block compounds
Description
Two-photon absorption (TPA) provides a complimentary spectroscopic technique to conventional one-photon spectroscopy which is particularly valuable for unravelling the electronic structure of f-block elements. Examples are drawn from the spectra of Tb3+, in the el Pasolite lattice Eu2+ in fluorites, Gd3+ and LaF3, and the UO22+ ion in Cs2UO2Cl4. The importance of interactions which occur in the intermediate state is emphasized
